Grandparents Day Celebration: Honouring Roots, Celebrating Love

Jag Prakash Kanya Chatralay, Pansora, joyfully celebrated its first-ever Grandparents Day on 26th July, on the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. The event welcomed around 50 grandparents from seven surrounding villages, where the Chatralay runs tuition classes for children.

The children from these tuition classes prepared a heartfelt cultural programme of songs, dances, and skits, expressing deep love and gratitude. A symbolic eco-friendly welcome included the eldest grandparents watering a plant, representing their nurturing role, while others added leaves to a symbolic tree chart, highlighting their ongoing impact on family life. Sr. Maria Macwan addressed the gathering, honouring grandparents as pillars of wisdom and love, and encouraging children to cherish their presence and sacrifices. The event continued with fun games, lively interactions, refreshments, and the giving of thoughtful gifts. Many grandparents shared how touched they were, with some saying it was the first time they had been celebrated this way.

This beautiful day was more than a celebration—it was a tribute to love, legacy, and the roots that keep families grounded across generations.
