Rejoicing in Holiness: Celebration of St. Maria Troncatti’s Canonization at Umreth Parish

On 19th October, the Sisters of the Pansora community joyfully shared their happiness with the faithful of Our Lady of Fatima Parish Church, Umreth, by celebrating and honouring the canonization of St. Maria Troncatti. While the official canonization took place at the Vatican on the same day  which also marked Mission Sunday the local celebration at Umreth Parish was a heartfelt expression of gratitude and joy. It brought together the parishioners and the FMA Sisters to thank God for the gift of this new saint, a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians, who lived her missionary life with great love, humility, and dedication.

The Eucharistic celebration, concelebrated by Fr. John Baptist, Fr. John Britto and Fr. Natu Macwan from the Parish Church, it was a solemn and joyful thanksgiving. During the homily, the main celebrant Rev. Fr. John Baptist, shared meaningful reflection on the life and mission of St. Maria Troncatti, who served as a missionary in the equatorial Amazon from 1922 until her death in 1969. Known affectionately as “Matrecita Buena”  the good mother she devoted her life to spreading peace, reconciliation, and the Gospel among the Shuar and colonist communities.

Her life of simplicity, courage, and deep communion with God continues to inspire the Church and all who hear her story. Over 200 parishioners participated in the celebration, joining the Sisters in their joy and thanksgiving. After the Eucharist, keychains and bookmarks featuring St. Maria Troncatti were distributed as Souvenir, along with snacks shared in a spirit of fellowship and unity. The day was a beautiful expression of shared faith and joy as the Sisters of Pansora and the parishioners of Umreth rejoiced together in the canonization of St. Maria Troncatti. Her radiant example of missionary love and service continues to shine brightly, inspiring all to live with compassion, faith, and a spirit of peace.
